We are seeking a leader, not just another manager. There is an expectation for the experienced candidate to inspire and motivate staff, fostering a positive work culture.

Tiny Toes Day Nursery’s mission is “Happy Children – Happy Parents”. Our purpose is providing high quality childcare and education for children from 3 months to 5 years– and we do that for a wide range of parents. We are the largest (busiest) single setting in Southampton and we open our 2nd large setting in Southampton in June 2024. We are privately owned and the 2 experienced Directors are part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), as you will be.

Requirements

• Preferably you have a degree in early childhood education, childcare management, or a related field.

• This will not be your first management role. It will suit someone who is extremely competent but is maybe frustrated by the limitations of their current manager role in a smaller Nursery. The candidate may be interested in progressing with us to Area Manager as we expand at pace over these next few years

• We need someone who can (together with the other members of the SLT) set, and maintain, a strategic direction for the nursery, make critical decisions, and leading by example.

• You will have an obvious passion for early childhood education and a genuine commitment to the well-being and development of children.

• It is more important what different experience and skillset you have rather than many many years in a particular role. Any experience in implementing educational curriculum or programmes for young children will be useful.

• You will be outgoing and energetic and have no problem building strong relationships with parents, staff, and the wider community, and you will be able to show effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

All the usual stuff will apply, but you will have a SLT to assist:

Ensuring that the nursery complies with all relevant regulations and standards.

Managing and developing a team of educators and support staff.

You will have the ability to provide mentorship and professional growth opportunities for staff.

The focus of the role is on the well-being, safety, and development of the children attending the nursery.

If you reach interview stage then we will describe our Nursery’s values and culture at length and it is vital that you should align with and uphold these values.

If you are shortlisted then we will carry out an initial video call interview and then an in-person interview at our setting.

As well as the many incentives and perks that set us apart from other settings we will pay you £40,000 per annum/pro-rata for your 6 month probation and then raise you to £45,000 immediately on finishing your successful probation period. Other bonusses apply on accountability targets.

PLEASE READ THE ABOVE TEXT AGAIN - We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced manager who can also be an inspirational leader for your new team of 30+, and who is passionate about the well-being and development of children in your nursery. This is really an amazing opportunity for the right growth candidate.

We are looking for a full time Nursery Chef, to join our Tiny Toes Nursery Team. We believe that a good quality home cook would be perfect for this role, and can offer training for a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate in house. The menu needs to be nutritious, but also full of good old fashioned nursery food which children know and love. 

Schedule: 30 hours per week 9am - 3pm

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £11.00 to £12.50 per hour

Requiremnets

• A good quality home cook, with a passion for nutrition, and inspiring health eating

• Food Safety Certificate L2 or above (or equivalent)

• Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements and children’s allergies

• Great communication skills, with both colleagues, children, and parents

• Experience as a Chef: 1 year (preferred), Cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and create meals that are age appropriate for all children on a daily basis.

• Ensuring children’s dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated with the nursery team.

• Keeping a clean and safe kitchen environment following internal and external requirements

• Working with the Nursery Manager in creating a healthy and nutritious menu for the children

• Having a positive working relationship with the parents and families supporting them withnutritional advice

• To ensure stock levels are maintained and rotated when needed.

• To ensure health and safety procedures are always followed.

• To work within a team and maintain a happy, positive working environment.
